What do tickets cost to see Alicia Keys’ ‘Hells Kitchen’ off-Broadway?

Let’s get one thing straight.

Alicia Keys isn’t in the off-Broadway sensation “Hells Kitchen” at the Newman Theater that’s based on her life.

However, her finger prints are all over the musical. From the music to the coming-of-age story about 17-year-old Ali living in a cozy Times Square apartment, “Hells Kitchen” is all Keys.

And if you want to see her journey live, you can grab seats to shows all the way up until when it closes on Jan. 7, 2024.

The only problem is it will cost you a pretty penny.

At the time of publication, the lowest price we could find was $226 before fees on Vivid Seats.

Other shows have seats starting anywhere from $260 to $600 before fees.

However, when you factor in how tiny the venue is — just 299 seats — compared to most Broadway theaters, the high price tag makes a bit more sense.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

“Hells Kitchen” 2023-24 schedule

Because “Hells Kitchen” isn’t on Broadway it doesn’t play by the same rules as other shows.

Rather than going dark just one day a week, the new show will sit out the occasional, Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

1 p.m. matinees take place on a number of different days — we saw Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays on the calendar.

If you’re looking for a show that makes sense for your holiday schedule, you can find the complete calendar including dates, start times and links to buy tickets here.

“Hells Kitchen” runs 2 hours and 30 minutes, including an intermission.

What is “Hells Kitchen” about?

The official synopsis of the show from the Public Theater reads:

In a cramped apartment hanging off the side of Times Square, 17-year-old Ali is desperate to get her piece of the New York dream. Ali’s mother is just as determined to protect her daughter from the same mistakes she made.

When Ali falls for a talented young drummer, both mother and daughter must face hard truths about race, defiance, and growing up. Ali feels trapped, until the sound of a neighbor playing piano opens the door to an unexpected friendship and a radically different future.

If you want to put names to the faces onstage, we’re here to give you a helping hand.

Below, you’ll find a quick bio for the show’s five biggest players:

Maleah Joi Moon stars as Ali aka the Alicia Keys role in the musical. Prior to this production, she’d been in the TV movie “Mystic Christmas” and “Disney Television Discovers: Talent Showcase.” In addition to carrying the musical, she is also a student at Pace University.

Shoshana Bean has done it all onstage. Most recently, she starred opposite Billy Crystal in the Broadway production of “Mr. Saturday Night” where she was nominated for a Tony. Before that, you may have seen her in “Wicked,” “Waitress” and “Hairspray.” It’s also possible you caught her in the 2020 film “Bill and Ted Face The Music.”

Having performed alongside Thomas Rhett on an episode of “Saturday Night Live,” she’s also lent her acting talents to the series “Russian Doll” and “Walker.” On top of the show, Hall is an adjunct professor of music at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts while she works on new music.
