Candace Owens slams ‘emotionally unhinged’ Ben Shapiro as Israel feud escalates

Candace Owens blasted Ben Shapiro as “emotionally unhinged” and “unprofessional” — the latest escalation in the feud between the two Daily Wire stars over Israel.

Owens on Wednesday took to social media to respond to Shapiro, the co-founder of The Daily Wire who urged her to quit the right-leaning news outlet.

“Candace, if you feel that taking money from The Daily Wire somehow comes between you and God, by all means quit,” the rabidly pro-Israel Shapiro wrote on his X social media account.

While Shapiro is a co-founder and co-owner of the news site, he has stated in the past that he does not have the authority to fire Owens, who hosts the Daily Wire’s “Candace Owens” talk show.

Caleb Robinson, who is CEO of The Daily Wire, has hiring and firing power at the company.

Shapiro, who holds the title of “editor emeritus” at The Daily Wire in addition to his duties as host of “The Ben Shapiro Show,” was responding to a post from Owens in which she quoted a verse from the Book of Matthew.

“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God,” Owens wrote, quoting the biblical verse.

She then added: “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other.”

“You cannot serve both God and money,” she wrote.

Shapiro responded to Owens’ post by urging her to resign, prompting Owens to hit back.

“You have been acting unprofessional and emotionally unhinged for weeks now,” Owens wrote.

“And we have all had to sit back and allow it and have all tried to exercise exceeding understanding for your raw emotion.”

The Owens-Shapiro feud began earlier this week, when a user on X posted a video showing Shapiro criticizing the commentator over her stance on Israel.

“I think her behavior during this has been disgraceful, without a doubt,” Shapiro is seen saying.

“I think that her faux sophistication on these particular issues has been ridiculous.”

In an interview with former Fox News star Tucker Carlson on his X show on Wednesday, Owens said she would not be making “ad-hominem attacks” against Shapiro, who should be “embarrassed” over his handling of the situation.

“I would hope that amongst colleagues, it would always be civil disagreements,” she said.

“I would hope that it would remain respectful, and that you wouldn’t throw your colleagues under the bus, so to speak.”

Owens has been a vocal critic of Israel as well as the US government’s support for the country’s military operations in Gaza, which were launched in response to the Oct. 7 surprise assault by Hamas terrorists that killed at least 1,400 Israelis.

The Israeli military response has generated fierce criticism due to the high civilian death count.

Palestinian health officials in the Gaza Strip say that more than 10,000 have died as a result of intense Israeli bombardment.

Israel has claimed that it is targeting senior Hamas commanders who have built underground facilities nestled beneath civilian structures such as hospitals.

“No government anywhere has a right to commit a genocide, ever,” Owens wrote on her X account earlier this month. She didn’t mention Israel, though this was implied.

“There is no justification for a genocide. I can’t believe this even needs to be said or is even considered the least bit controversial to state.”

Owens has also amplified posts by left-wing figures such as Max Blumenthal, a frequent critic of Israel, and others.

Shapiro has criticized Owens in the past for defending rapper Kanye West after he made antisemitic statements.
