Nurse reacts to dad stealing diapers from hospital: ‘Literally illegal’

A nurse has gone viral on TikTok for reacting to a clip of a new father “stealing” diapers from a hospital.

Parents everywhere have been shocked by her response, with the clip racking up over 8 million views, 1.5 million likes and nearly 3,000 comments.

She then drops a major truth bomb at the end of the clip that changes everything.

“Literally illegal”

Nurse Miki Rai uploaded a stitch video, reacting to another video from user @ladafoolishness which shows the new dad stashing multiple diapers into his bag.

The popular TikTok sound “Nobody’s gonna know ” plays over the top.

Miki then cuts the clip there and says, “Um… you know that’s illegal, right?” scrunching up her face in disdain.

“Literally illegal,” she emphasized in the caption.

But then straight away she drops the act and says, “Just kidding!”

“I’m not a Karen, I’m a nurse, and I’m here to tell you that we have to throw away everything after you leave, so you might as well take it home!”

“Nappies are expensive”

Down in the comments, people shared their gratitude for Miki and her helpful insider knowledge.

“Thank you so much for sharing,” one person said.

Another wrote, “Omg I literally had no idea. I wish I knew this earlier.”

“Yay — free stuff!” remarked another excited viewer.

Then one fellow nurse reiterated, “We want you to take everything! I would purposely overstock stuff before discharge so families had extra to take. Nappies are expensive.”

And another nurse explained the reasoning behind this, saying, “Generally if we can’t wipe it down with disinfectant, it’s probably disposable and will get thrown away.”

“The nurses bagged it all up for us”

Then moms shared their own experiences with taking things from the hospital.

“We weren’t going to, but when we got discharged the nurse was like, why aren’t you taking everything? and helped us pack it up,” one woman commented.

“After my first birth, the nurses told my husband to bring an empty duffle bag to my room. He did, and every time they would come in with new items,” recalled someone else.

“When we brought our twins home, the nurses bagged it all up for us! We were so thankful!” shared another mom.

Others said they even took it a step further and took anything from “blankets, pillows and creams.”
