Flight attendant uses intercom to help man apologize to ‘super mad’ girlfriend — some call the move icky

A flight attendant has shared a divisive request she received from a passenger that later sparked debate online.

A Boston-based flight attendant named Vera, aka @balancedflyer on TikTok, went viral on the app after sharing one strange request she got mid-flight.

In the video with more than 20,000 views, Vera said that a guy came to the back of the plane and told her he had a “weird question” to ask her.

He explained that his “super mad” girlfriend was fuming with him in the front of the plane, and asked the crewmember if she would be willing to make an announcement at the end of the flight.

Using fake names, Vera said he wanted her to say, “‘Sarah,’ ‘Eric’ is really, really sorry, and he’s looking forward to having an incredible weekend with you.”

Vera said that when she heard this, she got excited and thought it was cute — though she questioned what he did to make his girlfriend so mad.

Reportedly, he’d told her something “silly” and then “brushed it off” without further explanation, suggesting there was more to the story than he let on.

“I told him, you must’ve done something pretty bad in order to be asking for this grand gesture,” she said.

Vera revealed in the comments that she did make the announcement at the end of the flight.

“It was great. I consulted with my crew first and they liked it. Customers laughed and the couple thought it was funny,” she shared.

While Vera thought it was a cute move, as did her friend working the back of the plane with her, the flight attendant in the front of the plane said it would just piss her off more for “making a spectacle out of something serious.”

However, Vera acknowledged it depends on the situation and the person.

Vera asked her viewers: If you were a flight attendant, would you make that announcement? And, as a girl, would you be impressed by the gesture or would it make you more mad?

“But it does depend on what he did. What he said he did didn’t sound that bad but like I said, there’s more to the story,” she explained.

She posed two questions to her viewers: If you were a flight attendant, would you make that announcement? And, as a girl, would you be impressed by the gesture or would it make you more mad?

Commenters were divided on how they would feel if they were in this position.

Some people said they would’ve loved it.

“Even super mad at him, something like that would soften me up and make me smile (while blushing and rolling my eyes!)” one wrote.

“Seems like it’s a harmless and fun way to apologize for a small fight, hard to believe there are people who’d be spiteful enough to just say no,” another said.

“It’s the thought that counts🤷🏾‍♀️It won’t necessarily make the feeling go away but it’s a nice gesture,” one user commented.

“As a passenger, I love it when flight attendants inject a little spice or fun in their announcements. And it’s not like anyone knew who ‘Sarah’ was,” someone pointed out.

Others were totally against it.

“I would hate that! I would be so embarrassed and feels like a cop-out,” someone said.

“MADDER !!!!! the whole plane doesn’t need to know my business,” another exclaimed.

“I’d be more mad. It’s low effort (another person apologizing on his behalf, he’s not actually doing anything),” one added.

Many viewers on TikTok weren’t convinced by the man’s “grand gesture,” calling it a “cop-out” and “low effort.”

Flight attendants chimed in, too.

“Me: no go sit down,” one quipped.

“I’d totally make the PA as long as the crew didn’t mind. If I were the girl I think it would break the ice and I think I’d laugh,” another said.

“As a FA heck no. As a GF I would get the ick 🤢,” a user added.

“I feel like I think it’s cute but my anxiety would not allow me to make the PA 😂 but also… I feel like I’d need her side first LOL,” someone explained.
