For those fooled by the Democratic Socialists’ fake apology after promoting a pro-Hamas rally last month, their Gotham chapter just made it unmistakably clear where it stood by slurring Tuesday’s giant pro-Israel rally in Washington as a “pro-Genocide March.”
“Today’s Pro-Genocide March in DC is a sad attempt to match the energy of millions who have marched . . . to demand a Ceasefire [in Gaza] and fight for a Free Palestine,” the socialists tweeted.
Hmm: Do Dem-Socialist pols and their fellow travelers — Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, city Comptroller Brad Lander, Rep. Jamaal Bowman — agree that Israelis are committing “genocide”?
If not, let them do the proper thing: denounce the DSA and sever all ties with it.
Don’t hold your breath: Most wouldn’t even criticize Hamas’ butchery, not without trying to excuse it or equate it with Israel’s supposed crimes.
The claim that nearly 300,000 Jews and other Israel supporters at Tuesday’s rally were backing genocide isn’t just idiotic; it’s especially shameless, given the term “genocide” was first used during the Holocaust, when 6 million Jews were murdered.
(Besides, if Israelis are trying to wipe out Palestinians, they’re doing a terrible job: The Palestinian population has exploded more than five-fold since 1955, from less than 1 million to about 5.3 million today.)
Israeli soldiers have risked their lives to protect Palestinians from Hamas, which shoots at Gazans trying to flee.
DSA’s demand for a ceasefire is equally deceptive: It’s really a call to let the Hamas terrorists off the hook for their 10/7 carnage and allow them to regroup and rearm — to better attack Israel again, as Hamas vows it would.
Those (including many socialists) who chant “from-the-river-to-the-sea” are the ones who actually back “genocide,” or at least ethnic cleansing of Israelis.
To be fair, Bowman let his DSA membership lapse after its activists savaged him for daring to visit Israel on his own — but he’s since sought to appease his old allies.
And he this week had the temerity to gentilesplain that urging a halt to the fighting is what it means to be Jewish: “By me calling for a cease-fire . . . and centering humanity, I am uplifting deeply what it actually means to be Jewish,” he gaslit.
That’s chutzpah: Imagine if a Jew, or any non-black, whitesplained what it “means to be African American.”
In fact, Judaism puts one’s health and safety above everything. Israelis simply don’t want to be killed, raped, burned alive or kidnapped; that’s why they want the Hamas terrorists destroyed.
If the DSA — and Bowman, AOC, Lander & Co. — truly want to promote “humanity,” they’ll drop calls for a cease-fire and demand the complete annihilation of Hamas.
