How TikTok’s ‘Triangle method’ will elevate your flirting technique

Keep your eyes on the prize.

Forget a fancy haircut or fabulously expensive clothes, TikTok users swear there’s a more surefire way to entice the object of your affection — and it takes just a few seconds.

“The triangle method” is a non-verbal flirting tactic that involves strategic eye movement to signify that you’re romantically or sexually interested in someone.

The hashtag “#thetrianglemethod” has clocked up tens of millions of views on TikTok, where videos about the tactic have been circulating for more than a year.

The sexy strategy exploded in popularity after “The Feminine Fatale” — a TikTok dating page for women who want to “make men obsessed” — uploaded a tutorial on the tactic which clocked up a whopping 5.5 million views.

According to the page, you begin the triangle method by looking directly into both of your potential paramour’s eyes for a maximum of three seconds.

Without moving your head, you then briefly look down at their lips before darting your eyes back up again.

At that point, you look directly into your crush’s right eye before moving your gaze across to lock contact with their left eye.

The eye movements resemble the shape of a triangle, hence the name of the flirting method.

“The triangle effect is one of the MOST powerful seduction methods,” the TikTok page declared.

A flurry of followers agreed that the tactic would work, with one writing: “What I would give to have someone look at me like that.”

But while the name of the flirtatious eye movement may be new, the tactic has been around for decades, according to some TikTokkers.

One account shared footage of Marilyn Monroe seductively moving her eyes in the triangular pattern in one of her 1950s films.

A second shared a clip of Kate Winslet and Leonard DiCaprio both doing the triangle method in “Titanic.”

Meanwhile, a third posted footage of actor Tom Welling similarly making the eyes in an episode of the 2000s drama “Smallville.”

Even ordinary TikTokkers have clocked up millions of views simply by sharing footage of themselves trying to demonstrate the tactic.

A Canadian user went viral with an imitation of the seductive method, prompting a range of replies.

“I accidentally did it to someone and I was so embarrassed when I realized,” one mortified female viewer wrote.

“Someone in my class did this to me and I side-eyed him,” a second said, saying that the method had become so popular thanks to TikTok that it was no longer subtle.

However, some still doubt that the eye movements make for foolproof flirting success.

“I did this of a bunch of times while he [a love interest] was talking and he still didn’t notice,” one complained.

“I have never tried,” a second cynic sneered. “And I never will cause I don’t think it will even work.”
